Item DescriptionIts only recently that that we have begun to appreciate the amazing benefits of buckwheat pillows, though Buckwheat pillows have been around for hundreds of years . In Korea children are given a Buckwheat Hull pillow by their grandmothers. In many European Countries young children are given Buckwheat Hull pillows to promote sound sleep without feeling too hot or too cold whilst sleeping. In Japan even today the majority of pillows available are filled with Buckwheat Hulls.Providing the perfect support for the head and neck RAZZMATAZZ ORGANIC BUCKWHEAT PILLOWS conform to the natural shape of the head and neck, instantly shaping to your every position during sleep allowing the smaller muscles in your neck to function correctly.Whats more, the natural shape of the hulls minimises the flattening and compression characteristic of fibre filled feather or down filled pillows allowing maximum natural ventilation, breathability and air circulation, dissipating excess heat, moisture and perspiration to keep the pillow cool, dry and comfortable. These dynamic factors help to relieve migraines, tension and stress related headaches and muscle spasms. Indeed, many healthcare professionals now recommend a buckwheat pillow to patients suffering from such conditions as migraines, snoring, insomnia and menopausal night sweats. This pillow is not so much “firm” as it is “hard” — and some people might find its crunchiness (yes, no other word for it) rather disconcerting at first. It does take a few days to get used to.
That said, it holds whatever shape you mush it into reasonably well. It can be mushed thick or reasonably thin, for whatever depth you prefer. It really does stay wonderfully cool –this pillow does not heat up the way memory foam does, or even the way normal polyester fiber pillows do. It’s a wonderful pillow for summer. I suspect that it is in fact just as non-allergenic as the manufacturer’s claim. And if you like a hard pillow, it doesn’t get any harder than this.
The only problem — and the reason I’ve given it 4 stars instead of 5 — is that as you shift around during the night the pillow shape will shift with you, so the perfect neck-cradling shape that you created when you went to bed will have disappeared by morning into a potentially uncomfortable slope. If you need a pillow that gives you absolutely consistent neck support, this isn’t the one.
Overall I like this pillow a great deal, but if you are on a search for a neck-support pillow to relieve headaches or migraine, you might consider something which has a less alterable shape.
